Bite the Bullet, you sissy!

Just a quick update to give an idea of where I am in terms of my quest for work/industry experience. I emailed a few designers and agencies before easter and had an amazing one reply. To my amazement, that reply came from probably the busiest designer out of all the ones I emailed, Kate Moross. Although her email was short and sweet she gave me some good advice about how to layout my work.

With Kate's words in mind I redesigned the portfolio slightly, dropped some pieces and included some new ones. I used the logo I had created over Easter and started to send out my portfolio samples again.

After a chat with John, I decided that I needed to do more than email studios hoping to be plucked from a big pile of digital trash that will probably be binned on mass by the admin. I decided to bite the bullet and start phoning agencies.

First on my list was 'The Consult'. I had sent a email to Alex 2 weeks ago and had not heard anything from them. I phoned them to ask if Alex had looked at my stuff yet and he hadn't, and I was informed they would contact me.

After that, I decided to phone two more agencies on my list and get proper contact addresses. The fact I had phoned meant I had a starting point to my emails. I contact both Elmwood and Vast.

In the end I was really happy I did phone and it was easier to get contacts than I thought, however, I shall wait and see about the outcome of those and press on to secure more experience as I find new agencies.
